DNCC grants financial support to 21 churches before christmas
Ahead of Christmas, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz has provided financial assistance worth around Tk20 lakh to 21 churches in the capital from the administrator's discretionary fund.
The assistance is expected to support religious programmes, social welfare initiatives and overall community preparations surrounding Christmas.
Extending greetings on the occasion, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said, "We are working to ensure that people of all faiths in the city can observe their religious festivals in a safe, joyful and festive environment. We want to transform this city into a humane, multicultural urban space where people of any religion and culture can live freely and without fear. This is how we aim to build a city based on justice and equality."
He further said that DNCC places high importance on civic harmony, tolerance and mutual respect, adding that such practical support and cooperation would continue during major religious festivals like Christmas.
It may be mentioned that DNCC had earlier provided financial assistance to various mosques, temples and eidgahs on the occasions of Eid and Durga Puja.
