CRP, Metlife launch ‘jagoron’ to train persons with disabilities
The Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), in partnership with MetLife Foundation, has launched a skill development initiative entitled "Jagoron" to empower 150 persons with disabilities.
The programme offers specialised training in three areas: Computer Office Applications, Electronics and Mobile Phone Servicing, and Dressmaking and Tailoring.
Participants will receive certification upon completion, along with seed funding to start small businesses or pursue other income-generating opportunities. CRP will also provide free medical and therapy services during the training period, in a fully inclusive and accessible environment.
The initiative was inaugurated at a recent ceremony attended by key stakeholders.
Valerie A Taylor, Founder of CRP, said: "At CRP, we believe every individual, regardless of physical ability, deserves the opportunity to lead a dignified and independent life.
Through collaborative efforts like the "Jagoron" programme, we can create meaningful change by promoting inclusivity and empowering people with disabilities to thrive."
Ala Ahmad, CEO of MetLife Bangladesh, said: "The Jagoron project is one of MetLife Foundation's important efforts to help build an empowered society.
It is a meaningful step towards supporting people with disabilities by providing them with the skills they need to earn a living and improve their lives."
