Cox’s bazar students receive books under Bishwo Shahitto Kendro initiative
In an effort to cultivate reading habits among students, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, in association with bKash, has expanded its nationwide book-reading programme to Cox's Bazar district.
This year, 40,000 books will be distributed to 330 educational institutions nationwide.
As part of the initiative, an event was held at the BIAM Foundation auditorium in Cox's Bazar, where books were handed over to students from BIAM Laboratory School and College, Saikat Girls' High School, Kalatali Adarsha High School, and Cox's Bazar Model High School.
Books were distributed by M A Mannan, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Cox's Bazar. Retired secretary and former Bishwo Shahitto Kendro trustee Khandakar Md Asaduzzaman, and bKash Vice-President (Regulatory and Corporate Affairs) Sayma Ahsan, among others, were also present.
To make the programme more engaging, a quiz competition on contemporary topics was organised for students from Years 6 to 10. Prizes were awarded to 40 students who won the competition.
Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has been conducting this nationwide enrichment programme to instil reading habits among students and help them become enlightened individuals. bKash has supported the initiative since 2014. To date, approximately 400,000 books have been distributed, benefitting more than 3.3 million readers in nearly 3,000 educational institutions nationwide.
