Confidence Cement unveils expansion strategy at grand launch event
Confidence Cement Dhaka Limited has formally launched a new phase of nationwide expansion with the inauguration of operations at its newly established manufacturing plant in Palash, Narsingdi.
To mark the milestone, the company organised its official grand launch programme on 23 January 2026, at a hotel in Dhaka, unveiling its future growth strategy focused on digitalisation, advanced technology and wider market reach.
The new plant, located in Palash, Narsingdi district, is equipped with German vertical roller mill (VRM) technology and uses A-grade clinker. With an annual production capacity of 1.8 million metric tonnes, the facility is expected to support seamless cement supply across all regions of the country.
More than 700 guests attended the launch event, including Engineer Rezaul Karim, chairman (emeritus) of Confidence Cement Dhaka Limited; Imran Karim, chairman of Confidence Group; Rupam Kishore Barua, vice-chairman; directors Salman Karim, Md Khalid Islam and Md Alamgir Kabir; Jahir Uddin Ahmed, chief executive officer; Newaz Mohammad Iqbal Yusuf, chief financial officer; Nasir Ul Alam Sumon, chief marketing officer; and Anindya Sarker, head of brand and research, along with other senior management officials.
Eminent engineers and architects from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and other engineering universities, senior government and military officials, bankers, industry representatives, distributors and members of the media were also present.
The event highlighted Confidence Cement's journey from its inception to its current role in national infrastructure development. Through presentations and keynote speeches, the company outlined how it became Bangladesh's first private-sector cement brand and later an integral supplier to major infrastructure and development projects.
Speaking at the event, Engineer Rezaul Karim said the company's journey began in 1994 with the establishment of a cement factory in Sitakunda, Chattogram, when Bangladesh relied heavily on imported cement.
"That factory became the first private-sector cement plant in the country and marked the beginning of a transformation in the domestic cement industry," he said. He added that the new plant in Narsingdi represents the next phase of that journey, enabling world-class cement to reach every part of Bangladesh.
Chairman of Confidence Group Imran Karim said sustainable success must align with national development. "Confidence Cement is not merely a brand; it is part of Bangladesh's development journey. With advanced technology, a strong distribution network and the new plant in Narsingdi, we are prepared to expand our reach further," he said, adding that the company remains committed to sustainable and environment-friendly production.
Chief executive officer Jahir Uddin Ahmed said the expansion was aimed not only at increasing capacity but also at maintaining quality, consistency and reliability. He said the initiative would further strengthen relationships with distributors, retailers and customers nationwide.
Chief marketing officer Nasir Ul Alam Sumon said Confidence Cement represents trust and long-term partnerships. He noted that the grand launching programme was intended to deepen engagement with customers and trade partners across the country.
The programme marked the beginning of a new phase for Confidence Cement, as the company reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening nationwide distribution and supporting Bangladesh's long-term infrastructure and economic development.
