Chinese firm to invest $30m in Bepza Economic Zone textile plant
Huarun Tex Co Ltd, a Chinese textile manufacturer, will invest $30 million to set up a production facility at the Bepza Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.
The factory, to be built on 36,000 square metres, is expected to generate jobs for 580 Bangladeshi nationals.
Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce 24,000 tonnes of yarn and 20 million metres of grey woven fabric annually.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and Huarun Tex Co Ltd signed a land lease agreement at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka on 16 July.
Member (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and Managing Director Bin Wang of Huarun Tex Co Ltd signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority witnessed the signing.
The executive chairman thanked Huarun Tex Co Ltd for choosing Bangladesh, particularly the Bepza Economic Zone, for its investment.
He said the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority remained committed to providing investors with a safe, modern and business-friendly environment, and assured the company of full support in establishing and operating the factory.
Member (Engineering) Abdullah Al Mamun; Member (Finance) ANM Foyzul Haque; Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam; Executive Director (Administration) Samir Biswas; Project Director Mohammad Anamul Haque of the Bepza Economic Zone; and Executive Director (Public Relations) ASM Anwar Parvez attended the ceremony.
Other senior officials of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and representatives of Huarun Tex Co Ltd were also present.
