A memorandum of agreement (MoA) has been signed between Unique Cement Industries Limited, a subsidiary of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), and the Research and Innovation Centre for Science and Engineering (RISE) at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The agreement aims to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly construction by advancing research, innovation, and the adoption of advanced technologies in the construction industry.

Dhalai Special is an R-category cement that achieves a strength of 20 MPa within the first two days. Following global trends, MGI has introduced this cement to the Bangladeshi market for the first time. BUET's RISE will conduct specialised research on the use and efficacy of this cement.

At the signing ceremony, executive director Mohammad Khorshed Alam signed on behalf of Unique Cement Industries Limited, while Professor Dr Muhammad Shariful Islam, director of RISE at BUET, signed on behalf of BUET.
