Bridge Division holds meeting to ensure smooth Eid travel
A coordination meeting was held at the Bridge Division conference room to ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers using the Padma Bridge and Jamuna Bridge during Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.
The meeting was chaired by State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Md Rajib Ahsan, MP. Mohammad Abdur Rouf, secretary of the Bridge Division and executive director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, along with other officials of the Bridge Division and the authority, were present.
At the meeting, the state minister said the prime minister had instructed the authorities concerned to make Eid travel across the country safe, comfortable, smooth and orderly.
He directed the authorities to take a coordinated set of measures to keep Eid travel through the Padma and Jamuna bridges safe, convenient, disruption-free, accident-free and disciplined. He also instructed all concerned to remain on maximum alert and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of homebound travellers during the Eid rush.
The state minister further asked officials to identify any challenges related to bridge crossings during Eid and hold meetings with relevant stakeholders and bus owners to address them. He also urged passengers to remain patient and comply with traffic laws.
At the meeting, the Bridge Division secretary said electronic toll collection (ETC) booths are operational at both ends of the bridges so that ETC cardholders can cross quickly and without disruption.
He also advised keeping CCTV cameras active at toll plazas and toll booths to enable round-the-clock monitoring of traffic conditions at key intersections through the surveillance system.
In addition, he called for adequate change to be kept at toll booths to facilitate quicker toll payments and sought the cooperation of vehicle owners, drivers and passengers to prevent traffic congestion caused by unfit or unlicensed vehicles on bridges and adjoining roads.
