Breast Cancer Awareness Month marked at Evercare Hospital Chattogram
Evercare Hospital Chattogram, the port city's largest healthcare facility, organised a Patient Forum and Awareness Rally to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aiming to promote early detection, timely treatment, and overall breast health among women.
From the Department of Medical and Radiation Oncology, Prof Dr Sajjad Mohammad Yusuff, Visiting Senior Consultant; Dr Tanvir Ahmed, Consultant and Coordinator, Radiotherapy Service; Dr Hasnina Akter, Consultant; and Dr Nayan Bhowmik, Attending Consultant, participated in the event. Mrs Shafia Gazi, Founder and Chair of Sunshine Education, and Mr Samir Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Evercare Hospital Chattogram, also attended, along with senior consultants, nurses, patients and staff.
In his welcome address, Samir Singh reaffirmed the hospital's commitment to promoting awareness and supporting patients through comprehensive care. 'Through initiatives like this forum and awareness rally, we aim to inspire early detection and provide support to patients and their families,' he said.
Mrs Shafia Gazi underscored the importance of community collaboration, noting that 'when we come together to educate, support and uplift one another, we empower women to make informed choices that can save lives'.
Prof Dr Sajjad Mohammad Yusuff said that combining modern diagnostic techniques with personalised care can significantly improve patient outcomes, while Dr Tanvir Ahmed discussed recent advancements in radiotherapy and treatment options. Dr Hasnina Akter highlighted the importance of holistic patient care, including emotional and mental wellbeing.
The programme also featured a Happy Patient Stories segment, where survivors shared their experiences and an interactive Q&A session for attendees.
The event concluded with a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally, where participants released pigeons and pink balloons, wore pink ribbons and caps, and carried banners through the hospital premises—symbolising solidarity, hope and a collective commitment to supporting those affected by breast cancer.
