BRAC University, ACU discuss deeper global collaboration in London

A BRAC University delegation met the leadership of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) in London as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen global engagement and academic collaboration.
The delegation, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar and Registrar Dr David Dowland, held discussions with Professor Colin Riordan, Secretary General of the ACU, and Dr Laura Pritsch, Head of Communications and Public Affairs, at ACU headquarters on 26 October 2025.
The meeting focused on developing partnerships that advance social progress, sustainability and applied research across the Commonwealth. Both sides explored opportunities in building resilient communities, fostering sustainable cities and expanding research exchanges that address global challenges.
Professor Riordan welcomed the dialogue and expressed enthusiasm for visiting Bangladesh in 2026 to continue discussions with BRAC University and other ACU member institutions.
BRAC University joined the ACU in 2021, becoming part of a distinguished network of more than 500 universities across the Commonwealth. The ACU currently has 16 member universities in Bangladesh, reflecting its longstanding commitment to higher education collaboration in the region.
The meeting formed part of BRAC University's broader visit to the United Kingdom to expand partnerships with universities and research organisations worldwide, advancing innovation, inclusion and global cooperation from the Global South.
This initiative also supports several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (SDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
