Brac Bank publishes co workers' litreacy magazine ' kothamala'
BRAC Bank has unveiled its first in-house literary magazine, "Kothamala", marking a new initiative to foster creativity and intellectual engagement among employees.
"Kothamala" serves as a platform to showcase the creative expressions of BRAC Bank staff. As the bank notes, this initiative is the first of its kind in Bangladesh's banking sector and underscores a commitment to nurturing storytelling, critical thinking, and artistic exploration in the workplace.
Providing employees a forum for short stories, poetry, essays, travelogues, and other literary forms, the publication highlights organisational talent while promoting a culture where creativity flourishes alongside professional excellence.
"Kothamala" builds on the success of "Protishwar", a collection of literary works by members of the BRAC Bank Reading Café that was well received by readers. The bank states that this was the first book authored by the bank's reading club members in Bangladesh.
"Kothamala" is scheduled for publication three times a year to ensure sustained creative exploration.
Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, commented, "Kothamala is not merely a literary publication; it is a reflection of our collective intellect and imagination. It reinforces our belief that a truly progressive workplace is defined not only by business excellence but also by cultural and creative enrichment. We remain committed to fostering an environment where our people can excel both professionally and personally."
He added: "By encouraging our colleagues to engage with literature and express themselves, we nurture a more cohesive workforce and contribute to a more thoughtful and creative society. This periodical is a testament to our enduring commitment to these values, and I take immense pride in the vibrant literary culture we continue to cultivate at BRAC Bank."
