BRAC Bank launches instant banking for NRBs and their families

BRAC Bank has taken a significant step forward in empowering Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) and their families by introducing instant account opening via eKYC and launching two specialised savings products tailored to meet their financial needs.

The initiative includes the launch of the Probashi Poribar and TARA Probashi Poribar Savings Accounts—reflecting the bank's ongoing commitment to supporting the contributions of expatriates to the country's economy.

Through the new eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) platform, NRBs can now open a BRAC Bank account instantly from abroad, without needing to visit a branch—breaking down traditional barriers to cross-border banking. This seamless process also encourages greater use of formal remittance channels.

Once an account is opened, customers can access a complete suite of digital banking services via the Astha App, including deposits, fund management, money transfers to bank accounts or mobile wallets in Bangladesh, bill payments, mobile top-ups, secured loans, fixed deposits, and DPS facilities.

To extend the benefits further to their families in Bangladesh, BRAC Bank has introduced two exclusive savings accounts:

Probashi Poribar Savings Account offers a 3% annual interest rate, monthly interest payout, life insurance coverage of up to BDT 5 lakh, and zero maintenance fees during the campaign period.

Tailored for female family members, TARA Probashi Poribar Savings Account offers a 3.5% annual interest rate, monthly interest payout, life insurance of up to BDT 2 lakh, health insurance coverage of up to BDT 50,000 annually, and no account maintenance fees during the campaign.

Commenting on this milestone, Md Shaheen Iqbal, CFA, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury & FI at BRAC Bank, said, "NRBs are the unsung heroes of our economy, sending billions in remittances that fuel national development. At BRAC Bank, we are committed to making banking seamless, secure, and beneficial for them and their families. With our new eKYC system, NRBs can open accounts instantly from anywhere in the world, and with our Probashi Poribar products, their families can enjoy a range of exclusive benefits, ensuring financial security and convenience."

This move positions BRAC Bank as a trailblazer in digital banking innovation, paving the way for inclusive, secure, and customer-centric services for the Bangladeshi diaspora and their families.
