BKash offers Eid cashback for remittance receivers
BKash, partnering with international money transfer operator Ria, offers customers an instant Tk200 cashback on remittances received directly into their bKash accounts during Eid-ul-Azha.
To earn the cashback, recipients must receive at least Tk20,000 directly into their bKash accounts via Ria. This excludes the government's 2.5% incentive.
Each recipient can claim the cashback once during the campaign, which ends on 25 May.
The partnership aims to increase the use of formal banking services among expatriates.
Expatriates in countries such as the UAE, Malaysia, Italy, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Germany, South Africa, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, and Austria can send funds directly to their relatives' bKash accounts in Bangladesh via Ria Money Transfer and its app.
Per Bangladesh Bank policy, up to Tk2.5 lakh may be sent per transaction to a bKash account.
Additionally, recipients instantly receive a government incentive of Tk25 for every Tk1,000 remitted to bKash accounts via Ria.
bKash reports that Ria provides competitive exchange rates for remittances.
According to the company, these benefits have fostered trust in direct remittance transfers to bKash accounts via Ria among expatriates and their families.
Recipients can withdraw remittances from nearly 2,500 ATMs at 19 leading commercial banks nationwide for Tk7 per Tk1,000, using the bKash app or by dialing *247#.
Beyond cash withdrawals, bKash accounts allow recipients to make payments, pay bills, transfer funds, recharge mobile balances, pay education or government fees, donate, and open savings accounts from home.
