Bkash launches ‘b hive’ to connect students with corporate world
Leading fintech company bKash has launched a new initiative, 'B Hive', to connect university students with the corporate world at an early stage of their academic journey, going beyond the traditional internship model.
Under the programme, second- and third-year undergraduate students are being given the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the corporate environment, without waiting until the completion of their degrees. The initiative aims to familiarise students with the functions of different corporate departments and help them better understand the world of work.
Maisha Mahiyat Naoli, a student of the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka, said the programme helped clarify her career aspirations in the fintech sector. "I gained insights into how corporate offices operate, how projects are designed and implemented, and how I should prepare myself for the career path I want to pursue," she said.
Recently, around 180 students from 18 leading public and private universities across the country took part in the programme. The four-day initiative was divided into four phases, featuring thematic sessions, office visits, and interactive discussions with senior officials of the organisation.
Participants were selected through a structured screening process from among interested applicants. The multi-round selection and engagement process was designed to introduce students to professional expectations and career pathways.
Ferdous Yusuf, Chief Human Resources Officer of bKash, stated that developing skilled human resources capable of keeping pace with rapid technological change remains a key challenge for fintech firms. "Alongside our existing career initiatives such as B Next, Gen Next Leader, B-ACE, and BTechWiz, we have introduced B Hive to inspire students early in their academic lives and help them chart a clear roadmap for their future careers," he said.
He added that participants would be able to align their academic pursuits with long-term career goals while still at university.
Currently, bKash operates the Gen Next Leader management trainee programme for fresh graduates, alongside the paid internship programme B Next, which offers hands-on project experience. The B-ACE campus ambassador programme also works to strengthen engagement between bKash and universities.
According to the company, these initiatives have contributed to bKash being named 'Employer of Choice' for three consecutive years 2020, 2021, and 2022 in the B-School campus track survey conducted by global research firm NielsenIQ.
