BITAC launches advanced technical instructor training under the ASSET project
The Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (BITAC) has launched a month-long training programme at its Tool and Technology Institute (TTI) as part of the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project. Organised under the Institutional Development Grant, the programme aims to upskill chief instructors, workshop superintendents, and technical teaching staff from polytechnics, technical schools, and colleges nationwide.
Industry Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman inaugurated the programme as chief guest, with acting BITAC Director General Md Firoz Uddin presiding. Director General of the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks Md Jahangir Hossain and Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education Abul Khayer Md Akkas Ali attended as special guests. Senior officials from the Ministry of Industries and BITAC also attended.
In his welcome remarks, TTI Director Md Iqbal Hossain Patowary emphasised Bangladesh's need to address emerging technological challenges. He highlighted BITAC's ongoing role in providing relevant training and supporting the manufacturing and maintenance of import-substitute machinery and equipment.
The month-long, skill-based training covers two NSDA-approved trades: CNC Machining Centre Operation with CAD-CAM (Level 3) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) (Level 4).
Abul Khayer Md Akkas Ali thanked BITAC for expanding training opportunities for technical instructors at its state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.
Industry Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman described teaching as a noble profession and commended BITAC for its effective initiatives to enhance the skills of technical educators. He thanked the organisers for their efforts.
In closing, acting Director General Md Firoz Uddin reiterated the importance of adopting fourth industrial revolution technologies to propel Bangladesh towards developed nation status, noting BITAC's leadership in building a skilled workforce.
