BGCCI holds farewell programme for German Ambassador

The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) organised a Farewell Reception in Honour of His Excellency Mr Achim Tröster, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh, on 14th May 2025 at 7:00 pm at Radisson Blu, Dhaka.

Opening Remarks by Mr  Farooque Khan, Vice President, BGCCI & Managing Director of Weber Power Solutions Ltd. as Chairman of the event.

He said His Excellency has served with distinction and dignity during his tenure in Bangladesh. He has played a pivotal role in strengthening the longstanding and cordial relations between Bangladesh and Germany. H. E. Ambassador Achim Tröster's advocacy for human rights, sustainable development, and inclusive growth has truly resonated with Bangladesh's aspirations.

H E Ambassador Achim Tröster, during his tenure in Dhaka, worked tirelessly to foster dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration between the two nations. Notable achievements during his tenure include the enhancement of German development cooperation, the promotion of German language and culture, and increased people-to-people exchanges.

BGCCI President, Mr M Maksud, gave the welcome address and thanked all the participants for attending despite their busy schedules. In his remarks, the ambassador emphasised the pivotal role of Germany in strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship between the two countries. Under Ambassador Tröster's leadership, the two countries saw expanded cooperation in areas such as climate action, trade and investment, vocational education, governance, and humanitarian aid.

Mr M Maksud also said, 'His Excellency, your sincere commitment, diplomatic acumen, and personal warmth have earned you the respect and admiration of all those who have worked with you.' You have not only been a skilled representative of your country but also a true friend of Bangladesh.

As you depart, I hope you will carry with you fond memories of your time here, of our culture, our people, and the shared values that unite Bangladesh and Germany. We are confident that wherever your next assignment takes you, you will continue to be a steadfast advocate for stronger international cooperation and understanding.

His Excellency Mr Achim Tröster, Ambassador, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the BGCCI Executive Board and BGCCI Members for their warm hospitality, dynamic partnership, and shared commitment to global challenges.

It has been an immense honour to represent Germany in Bangladesh, said Ambassador Tröster. "From our growing economic ties to our joint efforts on climate resilience and human rights, our countries have accomplished a great deal together. I leave with deep respect for the people, culture, and potential of Bangladesh.

The event was attended by high-level government officials, members of the diplomatic community, business leaders, and representatives from civil society, who gathered to express their appreciation and bid farewell to Ambassador Achim Tröster.

As he departs, both nations reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the vibrant and multifaceted partnership they share.
