Bengal Commercial Bank signs deals in Malaysia to boost remittance flow

Bengal Commercial Bank has organised a gathering in Malaysia to encourage expatriates to send remittances home through official banking channels.
The event was held recently at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, attended by the bank's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tarik Morshed.
In his address, he praised the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia, saying: "Expatriates are one of the key drivers of the national economy. The 1.5 million Bangladeshis living in Malaysia are enriching the country's foreign currency reserves while playing an extraordinary role in advancing their families and communities." He also assured that the bank would ensure its hard-earned money reached Bangladesh safely through banking channels.
Also present were Md Saiful Islam, Head of Trade Service and International Division; Md Russel Mahmud, in charge of the Remittance Department; and senior executives from CBL Money Transfer, NBL Money Transfer, Agrani Remittance House, Max Money, Akbar Money Changer, Japan Remit Finance, and Placid Express.
During the trip, Bengal Commercial Bank signed agreements with six money transfer and exchange houses in Malaysia. As a result, Bangladeshi expatriates in the country will now be able to remit money home safely and more quickly.
