BBA moves to paperless attendance with central monitoring
A digital attendance system has been installed at the entrance to Setu Bhaban, the headquarters of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA), to enhance security and ensure the presence of officers and employees of the Bridges Division and the BBA.
Officers and employees at all levels of the Bridges Division and the BBA began office activities under a fully digital attendance system on 22 February 2026. The modernisation initiative was undertaken in line with government directives to ensure timely attendance at the workplace.
The system uses a multi-biometric identification terminal, the ZKTeco G4 Pro, which verifies identity through facial recognition, fingerprint, RFID card, and password. Attendance is recorded electronically, with monthly reports generated automatically.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf, secretary of the Bridges Division and executive director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said, "This programme has been implemented in line with the Prime Minister's instructions to ensure timely attendance and efficient delivery of government services. Digital attendance is ensuring punctual arrival and departure, which has brought a positive change to the overall work environment. The punctuality and transparency of officials and employees will support Bangladesh's journey of transition."
Altaf Hossain Sheikh, director (administration) and additional secretary of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, said, "Digital attendance not only ensures punctuality, but also lays the foundation for a modern and smart administration. As a result, government resources are being utilised properly, and project work is being accelerated."
BBA employees also welcomed the system, noting that it has made performance evaluation more objective.
With the new system, attendance is recorded through biometric devices, allowing authorised officials to monitor attendance via a central server at any time. The initiative also promotes an eco-friendly and modern office culture by replacing manual attendance registers.
