BASIC Bank hosts innovation showcase and award giving ceremony
State-owned BASIC Bank Limited organised an "Innovation Showcase and Award Giving Ceremony" on 28 July 2025 at its head office, as part of its e-Governance and Innovation Action Plan for FY 2024–25. The event was held under the supervision of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, aiming to make banking services more inclusive and user-friendly.
Md Ahsan Kabir, Additional Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, attended as the chief guest. Farida Yasmin, Joint Secretary, was present as the special guest, while BASIC Bank Board Chairman Helal Ahmed Chowdhury graced the ceremony as the guest of honour. The event was presided over by Md Quamruzzaman Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BASIC Bank Limited.
At the event, the bank showcased three major innovations: Document Management Software, NPL (Non-Performing Loan) Management Software, and Pension Pay through Magpie Mobile App. Among these, the Pension Pay through Magpie Mobile App was nominated as the best innovation. The award was handed over to the development team members — Md Khademul Islam, AGM; Md Rowshan Shahriar, SPO; and Md Jahirul Islam, SPO — in recognition of their contribution.

Deputy Managing Director Subash Chandra Das, FCMA, FCA, and General Managers including Md Ismail, Md Momenul Hoque, Md Nashir Uddin, Sumit Ranjan Nath, Md Hasan Imam, Dulon Kanti Chakraborty, Md Ghulam Sayeed Khan, Saidur Rahman Sohel, and Nurur Rahman Chowdhury were present. Also in attendance were Deputy General Managers A.M. Shahed Husain, Helena Parvin, Md Helal Uddin, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and Mohammad Nazmul Islam, along with officers and staff members from various departments.
Speakers at the event stressed the importance of simplifying and modernising banking services to better serve customers. They called for continued innovation and collective efforts to enhance service quality and ensure sustainable growth. The event also reflected the bank's ongoing commitment to a turnaround and the restoration of its former reputation.
