Bangladeshi accountant honoured with SAFA award

Parveen Mahmud FCA of Bangladesh has been awarded the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Lifetime Women Leadership Award 2025.
She received the honour on 16 September at the SAFA Women Leadership Award ceremony held at City of Dreams, Sri Lanka.
Parveen began her career at Brac before serving as Deputy Managing Director of PKSF and founding Managing Director of Grameen Telecom Trust. She was also a partner at the accounting firm ACNABIN. Throughout her career, she has made significant contributions to women's empowerment, social innovation, and inclusive growth across South Asia. She is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International.
She has made history as the first female president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the first woman to serve on the board of SAFA. Currently, she chairs the Manusher Jonno Foundation, Midas, Her Story Foundation, and Shasha Denims PLC. She previously chaired UCEP Bangladesh and the Acid Survivors Foundation.
Her impact has also been recognised through numerous national and international accolades, including the Top 50 Professional and Career Women Award 2023.
The ceremony honouring her achievements took place during the Silver Jubilee of the Institute of Cost Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, coinciding with the International Management Accounting Conference 2025.
