Bangladesh welcomes leading international exam board’s official launch

School leaders and owners from Bangladesh came together in Dhaka on Saturday, 17 May, to discover why Oxford AQA is the world's fastest-growing international exam board.

The event highlighted how the board's leading UK assessment expertise equips students to succeed in their futures internationally through prioritising higher-order thinking skills and accessibility for students with English as an additional language.
Oxford AQA combines the knowledge and experience of two of the UK's largest not-for-profit education organisations — Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, and AQA, the largest exam board for GCSEs and A-levels in the UK — to offer a fresh and fair approach to assessment for international students.

The event, held at the Westin Dhaka, was conducted by Shahin Reza, Oxford AQA's recently appointed Country Director for Bangladesh and Nepal. It also included presentations from Andrew Coombe, Managing Director of Oxford AQA, and Matt MacGregor, Oxford AQA's Training and Support Team Leader. The event was graced by Professor Dr SMA Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Bangladesh, as the chief guest. And special guest Maxim Raimann, Exams Director, Bangladesh British Council, who gave their insights on the future of education in Bangladesh and formally declared Oxford AQA to be operational across the nation.

Professor Dr SMA Faiz, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, commented:"I'm delighted to know that Oxford AQA qualifications are now available for students in Bangladesh. I hope they will make their qualifications more affordable for our students and offer necessary training, so our teachers can teach students by maintaining international standards".Maxim Raimann, Exams Director, Bangladesh British Council, said,"British Council is committed to supporting UK exam boards with the delivery of high-quality exams".

Shahin Reza, Oxford AQA Country Director, Bangladesh and Nepal, added,"It is exciting to see that the leaders from international schools are very much welcoming of the introduction of the Oxford AQA exam board in Bangladesh. We are committed to supporting schools in Bangladesh in adopting the Oxford AQA qualifications.Matt MacGregor, Oxford AQA Training and Support Team Leader, said "It has been a privilege to meet and work alongside some of Bangladesh's most passionate and dedicated educators. As OxfordAQA grows in Bangladesh, I look forward to bringing our comprehensive, dynamic and examiner-led training, support and thought leadership to teachers."

Andrew Coombe, Managing Director of Oxford AQA, reflected that Oxford AQA boasts a distinguished academic heritage spanning over a century in the UK. I am so excited to see the positive impact our exams will have on the schools and students of Bangladesh. At Oxfordaqa, we share the commitment of Bangladeshi educators to raising global citizens who are well-rounded and future-ready. We look forward to our upcoming partnership with school leaders, teachers, parents and students nationwide."
