Bangladesh high commissioner presents credentials to King Letsie III
The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Lesotho (non-resident, based in Pretoria), Shah Ahmed Shafi, formally presented his Letters of Credence to King Letsie III on 29 January, 2026.
The Presentation of Credentials ceremony was held at the Royal Palace in Maseru from 10:00am to 12:00pm local time. The high commissioner was accompanied by his wife during the ceremony.
On the occasion, the high commissioner held separate meetings with the permanent secretary of foreign affairs, the honourable minister of foreign affairs, and the honourable prime minister of the Lesotho.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lesotho, expanding trade and commercial cooperation, and other issues of mutual interest.
During the audience with His Majesty, the high commissioner conveyed the warm greetings of the government and the people of Bangladesh and expressed Bangladesh's interest in enhancing cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. He also extended an invitation to His Majesty the King to visit Bangladesh.
His Majesty welcomed the invitation and conveyed his consent to send a high-level business delegation to Bangladesh in the first quarter of the year.
