Bangladesh–Denmark partnership to boost port capacity

The 2nd Joint Platform Meeting between Bangladesh and Denmark was held today at the PPP Authority office in Dhaka.
The meeting resulted in both sides mutually approving Non Lead Minor as the local partner of APM Terminals (APMT) for the upcoming Laldia Container Terminal project.
Both sides reviewed progress on bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, efficiency, and innovation in PPP projects. Participants emphasised that international expertise and strong local partnerships are crucial for the long-term sustainability of major infrastructure projects, such as Laldia.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the PPP Authority, the Ministry of Shipping, Chittagong Port Authority, and other key stakeholders.
The Danish side included high-level representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish Embassy, APM Terminals, Maersk Bangladesh, and other relevant officials.
Participants stated that the Laldia project will expand Bangladesh's port capacity, enhance trade competitiveness, and align operations with global standards for efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Both sides concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to promptly implement agreed actions and to position the Bangladesh–Denmark partnership as a model for sustainable PPP cooperation.
