Bangladesh backs south-four care agenda at Doha meeting

Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to championing the South-Four Care Agenda, positioning it as a driving force for inclusive development and gender equality in the region.
Representatives from 30 member states gathered in Doha, Qatar, on September 15, 2025, for an international meeting of the South Four Care Platform. Leading the Bangladesh delegation was Sharmin S Murshid, Adviser to the Ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs.
Sharmin S Murshid emphasised the care economy's vital role in strengthening women's economic empowerment through international cooperation. Not only does a well-structured care sector meet essential social needs, but it also creates safe, skilled jobs and enhances women's participation in labour markets.
She expressed gratitude for Bangladesh's recognition as an emerging leader and highlighted efforts to strengthen caregiving systems through sustainable policies and partnerships.
Sharmin S Murshid emphasised Bangladesh's efforts to equip young people with employment skills, strengthen the service sector for higher quality, and implement transformative service management. She pointed to the Ministry's success in navigating political and socio-economic changes to advance these initiatives.
