Bangladesh Atomic Energy appoints acting chairman

The Government of Bangladesh has named Dr Md Mojibur Rahman as Chairman (acting) of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), as announced in a gazette notification today.
Before taking on this leading role, he built his expertise as Member (Biological Sciences) of the Commission.
Dr Rahman brings a wealth of international experience, having previously led BAEC's International Relations Division and served as National Liaison Officer (NLO) to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He earned his PhD in 2003 from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and completed postdoctoral research in 2008 at Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany, as an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Fellow. To date, he has published more than 50 research articles in national and international journals.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Rahman has undertaken official visits to more than 20 countries, including Belgium, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Thailand.
He was twice elected President of the Bangladesh Atomic Scientists Association (2014–2016 and 2016–2018), making significant contributions to the welfare of scientists and the Commission's institutional development.
