Bangla QR awareness programme held at Dhaka University
An awareness programme on Bangla QR at the University of Dhaka promoted secure, interoperable digital payments and supported the vision of a cashless, Smart Bangladesh.
The Department of Accounting organised the programme with Bangladesh Bank and Dutch-Bangla Bank at the Professor Abdullah Faruque Multipurpose Conference Room in the university's MBA Building on Thursday (6 August), according to a press release.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman attended as chief guest, while the University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, inaugurated the programme.

University of Dhaka Faculty of Business Studies Dean Dr Mahmood Osman Imam and Dutch-Bangla Bank Managing Director and CEO Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan attended as special guests.
Professor and Chairman of the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka, Md Maksudur Rahman Sarker, FCMA, presided over the programme.
Md Mostaqur Rahman highlighted the importance of Bangla QR in facilitating secure, convenient, and interoperable digital payments through a single QR code across banks, mobile financial service providers, and other payment service providers.
He said Bangla QR was playing an important role in advancing a cashless economy and supporting the country's digital transformation.
Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam thanked Bangladesh Bank and Dutch-Bangla Bank for organising the awareness programme.
He said the initiative would increase awareness of digital payments among students and encourage wider adoption of digital financial services.
Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan said digital transactions saved both time and money.
He emphasised that wider adoption of digital payments and a positive shift in public attitudes would accelerate Bangladesh's transition towards a digital and cashless economy.
Participants were introduced to Bangla QR's features, benefits, and interoperable digital payment system.
The event also featured a live transaction demonstration, an awareness presentation, and an interactive question-and-answer session.
Teachers, students, officers, and staff of the Department of Accounting, along with distinguished guests, attended the programme.
