BADC crucial for sustainable agriculture, says chairman

The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has been playing a vital role in ensuring sustainable agricultural security through efficient management of the country's agricultural system, said BADC Chairman (Grade-1) Md Ruhul Amin Khan.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion marking the 64th founding anniversary of BADC, held today (16 October 2025) at the seminar hall of the Krishi Bhaban in Dhaka. Officers and employees of the organisation attended the event.
The chairman said agriculture is the backbone of the national economy and that economic self-reliance is impossible without a strong agricultural base. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC has been working tirelessly to strengthen the agricultural management system.
He highlighted BADC's significant contributions in supplying quality seeds of various crops, balanced non-urea fertilisers, and irrigation facilities to farmers across the country. The scope and nature of the organisation's activities have expanded greatly over the years, he added.
Calling upon officials and employees to perform their duties with honesty, sincerity and a greater sense of responsibility, the chairman said every effort must be made to make BADC a true friend of farmers and agriculture.
Established on 16 October 1961 under an ordinance, BADC has been working for more than six decades to promote agricultural growth and farmers' welfare in Bangladesh.
