American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) holds 22nd Convocation

The 22nd convocation of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) took place on February 22, 2025 (Saturday), at the university's campus. Honorable President and Chancellor of the university, Mr. Mohammad Shahabuddin, appointed Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, the adviser to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology, to preside over the ceremony and distribute certificates to the graduates.
Professor Dr. SM A Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), delivered a significant speech as a special guest, while the keynote address was given by the eminent writer and recipient of the 2024 Bangla Academy Literary Award, Professor Dr. Salimullah Khan. Notable attendees included Miss Nadia Anwar, Chairperson of AIUB's Trustee Board and a founding member, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, and Professor Dr. Md. Abdurr Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB.
A total of 2,547 students were awarded undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at AIUB's 22nd convocation. Medals and honors were presented to meritorious students, including 3 Chancellor Gold Medals, 79 Summa Cum Laude (Gold), 20 Dr. Anwarul Abedin Leadership Medals, 128 Magna Cum Laude (Silver), 23 Vice Chancellor Medals, and 39 Cum Laude (Bronze).
Congratulating the new graduates, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed stated, "Education is a powerful tool for achieving equity. One can earn money without education, but education is something that cannot be taken away. Knowledge and experience are irreplaceable. Graduates should first pay attention to their families, then to the country, and be caring towards people. The quality and sincerity of teachers are extremely important. I thank AIUB for achieving this."
Professor Dr. SM A Faiz congratulated the graduates, advising that while everyone can judge between good and bad, those enlightened by education can judge well. The keynote speaker, Professor Dr. Salimullah Khan, encouraged the graduates to learn how to guide society towards justice, liberation, and independence, stating, "I am pleased to know that AIUB has successfully completed 22 convocations. A university is never private; it belongs to the people."
Miss Nadia Anwar welcomed all graduates, emphasizing that "this is not the end; it is the beginning. This campus is your home, and we will always be your biggest well-wishers."
Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the university, stating, "Today, we are not only celebrating your success but also welcoming the bright future that awaits you. We are proud of the success of our graduates."
Professor Dr. Md. Abdurr Rahman expressed gratitude to the students, parents, and guests for attending the convocation, stating, "On behalf of AIUB, we express our sincere gratitude to all who have honored this event with their presence today."
Also present at the convocation were founding member Dr. Hasanul Abedin Hasan, Mr. Ishtiaq Abedin, and members of the Trustee Board, Syndicate, and Academic Council, as well as officials from the University Grants Commission, AIUB's Treasurer, Deans, Registrar, faculty, staff, students, parents, and media personnel.
