Alliance Française opens interactive art show ‘A Drawing Room’

The Alliance Française de Dhaka has launched "A Drawing Room," an exhibition by artist Hridita Anisha at La Galerie, Dhanmondi.
The show, alive with whimsy, nostalgia, and emotion, invites audiences into a realm of transforming drawings and illustrations.
The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The exhibition runs until Wednesday, 17 September, and is open Monday to Saturday, 3:00pm to 9:00pm.
A Drawing Room tenderly evokes the nostalgic settings of Anisha's childhood. In these recollections, cats, fish, and whimsical creatures wandered freely. Transcending a traditional exhibition, Anisha sketches directly onto the gallery walls, encouraging children and adults alike to contribute their own marks and reflections.
Visitors enter a space where only simple forms—a sun, a hut, a bird, a cat, a fish—appear through crisp lines, mirroring the earliest drawings of childhood. The exhibition becomes a dynamic, ever-shifting display, changing daily until its close.
La Galerie's walls showcase Anisha's illustrations—some fully realized, others intentionally unfinished and awaiting vibrant input from young audience members. Hridita will be present each day, creating new works on paper and walls while interacting with visitors.
A Drawing Room is both an invitation and a celebration. It invites children and the child in every adult to rekindle the spontaneity and joy of uninhibited creation. The show discards the limits of functionality and utility, making space for tranquillity, connection, delight, and collaborative creativity.
