Alliance française hosts evening of hawaiian guitar in Dhaka

Alliance Française de Dhaka and BHGSP hosted An Evening of Hawaiian Guitar on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at Auditorium Nouvelle Vague, Dhanmondi.
Fourteen accomplished artists enthralled the audience with the Hawaiian guitar's signature slide melodies and soothing tonal beauty. Their performances spanned classical, folk, and contemporary genres, showcasing the instrument's versatility and cultural significance.
Rashed Ahmed, Chief News Editor of Maasranga Television, attended the event as Chief Guest, while the programme was presided over by Guitar Guru Md Hasanur Rahman Bachchu, President of BHGSP.
Founded in 1992, the Bangladesh Hawaiian Guitar Shilpi Parishad has promoted Hawaiian guitar music nationwide by organising festivals, workshops, and performances that have increased public awareness and inspired a new generation of musicians. In 1990, the National Hawaiian Guitar Festival Council organised a landmark three-day festival at the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA), bringing together leading guitarists such as Panna Ahmed, Enamul Kabir, Akram Hossain, Syed Lutful Haque, Hasanur Rahman Bacchu, and Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Bidhu.
Since then, BHGSP has continued to popularise the Hawaiian guitar through widely attended concerts, created opportunities for musicians to collaborate across genres, and mentored dozens of new talents. The organisation has hosted workshops that have introduced the instrument to aspiring players and fostered artistic exchange throughout Bangladesh.
