Akij Venture eyes greener transport with new electric vehicles
Akij Venture Group launched the BAW M8 and BAW E7 Pro—two new electric vehicles—at Akij Venture Eid Fest 2026, highlighting its push to accelerate sustainable mobility in Bangladesh.
Akij Renewable Energy and Automobiles Ltd (AREAL), the automotive arm of Akij Venture Group, introduced the vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, reflecting the Group's stated aim to support cleaner and more intelligent mobility solutions.
Monowara Begum, matriarch of the Akij family and mother of Chairman Sheikh Shamim Uddin, formally inaugurated Akij Venture Eid Fest 2026.
Her presence reflected the Group's heritage and its commitment to Bangladesh's future.
Sheikh Shamim Uddin, Chairman of Akij Venture Group, said at the launch: "The BAW M8 and BAW E7 Pro are more than just vehicles—they reflect our vision for the future of mobility in Bangladesh. Clean, intelligent and purpose-driven, these vehicles align with our commitment to building a sustainable transportation ecosystem for generations to come."
Bangladesh stands at a pivotal point in its transition to sustainable energy and transport.
Rising fuel costs, worsening congestion and growing environmental concerns have intensified the need for efficient, eco-friendly mobility solutions.
AREAL's growing electric vehicle portfolio aims to address these challenges by offering consumers practical, cost-effective and environmentally responsible alternatives to conventional transport.
Beyond passenger vehicles, Akij Venture Group is developing a comprehensive clean mobility ecosystem, encompassing electric commercial trucks, electric cargo three-wheelers, electric two-wheelers, smart charging stations and battery-swapping infrastructure.
This integrated approach positions the Group as a leading provider of electric mobility solutions in Bangladesh.
By reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, lowering carbon emissions and decreasing long-term transport costs for consumers and businesses, the Group says it aims to support Bangladesh's sustainable development goals.
Akij Venture Group said it remains committed to accelerating Bangladesh's transition to sustainable transport through continued investment in electric mobility, renewable energy and supporting infrastructure.
The Group envisions a cleaner, smarter future powered by Bangladeshi innovation.
The BAW M8 and BAW E7 Pro will be on public display throughout Akij Venture Eid Fest 2026, giving visitors the chance to view the vehicles and learn more about AREAL's vision for a greener Bangladesh.
