AIUB offers industry-focused course on RTL design and digital VLSI

The American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) has launched a new professional, industry-focused course entitled 'RTL Design, Verification, Synthesis and PnR for Digital VLSI Design' on 5 October 2025.
The course, jointly offered by the AIUB Institute of Continuing Education (AIUB ICE) and the Dr Anwarul Abedin Institute of Innovation (D2A2I), aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry demand by equipping participants with specialised, market-ready skills in advanced digital VLSI design.
The inauguration ceremony began with an address by Dr Shahriyar Masud Rizvi, Deputy Director of the Centre for VLSI and Embedded Systems (CVES) and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, who outlined the course objectives and its relevance to the growing global demand for VLSI professionals.
Mr Ataus Shafi, course co-instructor and an experienced Physical Design Engineer, formerly with Ulkasemi and DSi, discussed the curriculum's structure and emphasised its transformative potential for aspiring VLSI engineers.
In his remarks, Professor Dr A.B.M. Siddique Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, highlighted the rapid expansion of the VLSI industry and the need for specialised programmes to build a skilled semiconductor workforce.
Professor Dr Md Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of AIUB and Founding Director of D2A2I, expressed appreciation to the course instructors and reiterated that D2A2I was founded in 2021 with the mission of launching industry-aligned courses that prepare graduates to contribute immediately to the workforce. He congratulated the 26 students of the inaugural batch and wished them success.
The event concluded with an inspiring speech by Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB, who reflected on the evolution of VLSI research and education in Bangladesh and encouraged participants to make the most of this opportunity to develop specialised competencies in the field.
