AIUB hosts international workshop on inclusive education and ai innovation

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully concluded a three-day hands-on workshop titled "Introduction to the Inclusive Education Toolkit: Supporting Disadvantaged and Excluded Individuals and Communities in Bangladesh", held from 22 to 24 June 2025 at Hotel InterContinental, Dhaka.
The event was organised under the British Council's Transnational Education (TNE) initiative as part of the Generative AI for Good project, funded by the Going Global Partnerships programme. The workshop aimed to promote inclusive education by using AI-driven tools and practices to expand access to tertiary education for underrepresented communities in Bangladesh.
The sessions brought together experts from four countries and featured ten interactive modules. Resource persons represented Nottingham Trent University (UK), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KSA), AIUB, BUET and Jahangirnagar University.
The opening ceremony, held on 22 June, was graced by Prof Dr Md Saidur Rahman, Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, as the chief guest. Special guests included Prof Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), Jahangirnagar University, and Mr Toufiq Hasan, Head of Education, British Council Bangladesh. Prof Dr David J Brown, Principal Investigator from Nottingham Trent University, joined as guest of honour. The session was chaired by Prof Dr Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB.
The closing ceremony on 24 June featured Prof. Dr M. Kamrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, as the chief guest. Special guests included Dr Md Fakhrul Islam, Secretary of UGC, and Dr Sultan Mahmud Bhuiyan, Director of the Private University Management Division, UGC. Remarks were also delivered by the guest of honour, Professor Dr David J Brown, and Mr David Knox, Director of Programmes, British Council Bangladesh. The session was chaired by Professor Dr Md Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB.
AIUB led the organisation of the workshop in partnership with Jahangirnagar University, BUET and Nottingham Trent University. The event reaffirmed AIUB's commitment to inclusive education, innovation and international collaboration—aligning with global efforts to make higher education more accessible, equitable and future-ready.
