AIUB hosts global symposium on responsible universities

The American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) has organised a two-day International Symposium on "Responsive and Responsible University: Global Perspectives from the Magna Charta Observatory Research Initiative", held on 25–26 September at the AIUB campus.
The landmark symposium marks a historic milestone for Bangladesh's higher education sector.
Organised by AIUB's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Magna Charta Observatory, the event drew more than 150 participants, including vice-chancellors, pro-vice-chancellors, and IQAC directors from leading universities in Bangladesh, as well as representatives from universities in Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Bangladesh.
The inaugural session featured speeches from Dr Carmen Z Lamagna, Member of AIUB's Board of Trustees, and David J Lock, Secretary General of the Magna Charta Observatory. Distinguished guests included Dr Hasanul A Hasan, Founding Board Member of AIUB; Mr Ishtiaque Abedin, Founding Board Member of AIUB and Secretary General of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB); along with faculty members, officials, and international delegates.
Panel discussions at the symposium featured Professor Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC); Professor Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC); and vice-chancellors of leading private universities. AIUB students also presented their research at the event.
The symposium underscored the importance of global collaboration in strengthening university governance, ensuring accountability, and enhancing quality education aligned with international standards.
