AIUB drama club unveils curtains rise 2025: A vibrant theater showcase

With support from the Office of Student Affairs, the AIUB Drama Club of American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) successfully hosted a two-day theatre festival titled "Curtains Rise 2025."
The festival brought together diverse performances, vibrant storytelling, and a celebration of campus culture. The festival commenced with two striking performances that set the tone for an engaging theatrical experience. The opening play, "Election Caricature," by renowned playwright S. M. Solaiman, delivered a powerful political satire that humorously exposed the absurdities within the electoral system. The audience was then treated to an original mime-based murder mystery crafted by the club's in-house scriptwriter. This unique, wordless performance skillfully used facial expressions and background music to unravel a gripping story of crime and intrigue.
Distinguished guests on the first day included Dr. Ziarat Hossain Khan, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of Student Service and Welfare (SSW), and Mohammad Hamidul Haque, Head of the Department of English. Faculty members and many students gathered to support the creative endeavour. On the second day, the stage again came alive with two contrasting yet equally compelling performances.
The first was a thrilling rendition of the gothic classic "Dracula", which captivated the audience with its intense portrayal of vampire mythology and dark suspense. This was followed by a light-hearted original comedy, "Ek Credit-er Prem", which humorously explored themes of campus romance and the chaos of university projects, earning widespread applause for its relatable content and comedic flair.
Registrar Dr Mohammad Zahidul Islam and Proctor Dr Monzur H Khan graced the closing day, alongside faculty members, alumni, and an enthusiastic student audience.
