Airtel gaming arena unveiled as national esports platform
Airtel, Robi Axiata PLC's youth-focused brand, has launched the Airtel Gaming Arena, a national esports tournament, in partnership with PUBG MOBILE.
The announcement was made on Wednesday at Robi's corporate office in Dhaka.
With esports in Bangladesh taking off as a vibrant arena for young competitors, Airtel shared that this initiative creates an electrifying national stage where gamers can shine and showcase their skills.
As part of the move, Airtel signed a memorandum of understanding with PUBG MOBILE, giving its users access to exclusive collaborations, special events, and unique gaming experiences.
Shihab Ahmad, chief commercial officer of Robi Axiata PLC, said: "Esports has skyrocketed in popularity among today's youth. With Airtel Gaming Arena and our partnership with PUBG MOBILE, we aren't just launching a tournament — we're creating an unstoppable platform for Bangladesh's next wave of esports champions."
Also present were Saurabh Prakash Khare, Head of Airtel Marketing; Tahasina Rafa, Associate Director, Brand and Communication; Zyma Thaseen, General Manager, Brand Strategy and ATL; and Fattah Ahmed, General Manager, Esports and Gaming of Robi Axiata PLC.
Robi Axiata PLC is the second-largest mobile network operator in Bangladesh, majority-owned by Axiata Group Berhad of Malaysia (61.82%), with Bharti Airtel of India holding 28.18%, and the remaining 10% held by public shareholders.
