Agrani Bank PLC holds 18th Annual General Meeting

Agrani Bank PLC conducted its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 31 July 2025 at the bank's Head Office Board Room, marking another significant milestone in the institution's journey.
The meeting was presided over by Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of Directors, with Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance, in attendance as the Chief Guest and Government Representative.
Board Directors Dr Fazlul Hoque, Kabirul Ezdani Khan, Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, Muzaffar Ahmed, Md. Sayed Kutub and Md. Rizwanul Huda was also present, alongside the Managing Director and CEO, Md. Anwarul Islam, Bangladesh Bank observer, Md Amzad Hossain Khan, Deputy Managing Directors, General Managers, and representatives from the audit firm.
During the session, the audited financial statements for the year 2024 were unanimously approved. In her address, Nazma Mobarek expressed optimism about the bank's continued growth and highlighted its potential to remain a leader among state-owned commercial banks. Chairman Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed shared a review of the 2024 financials, expressing satisfaction with the bank's performance. Managing Director and CEO, Md Anwarul Islam, provided a comprehensive overview of the bank's achievements in various areas, including loan recovery, deposits, lending, operating profit, import-export activities, remittance inflows, and service expansion.
Key Financial Highlights for 2024:
- Total Assets: Tk. 1,28,106 crore, reflecting a 4.07% growth from 2023.
- Interest-Earning Assets: Increased by 3.22%, reaching Tk. 83,066 crore.
- Total Investment: Tk. 27,760 crore, a 9.10% increase from 2023.
- Loans and Advances: Grew by 4.41%, reaching Tk. 79,037 crore.
- Deposits: Tk. 99,232 crore, with a growth of Tk. 323 crore.
- Operating Profit: Tk. 1,511 crore.
- Net Interest Spread: 5.38%.
- Provisioning: Increased by 30%, totaling Tk. 9,083 crore.
Agrani Bank continued its dominance in foreign remittance collection, facilitating Tk. 21,033 crore in remittances, a 76.24% increase from the previous year. For this achievement, the bank was honored with the "Remittance Award 2024" from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The bank also achieved significant milestones in trade finance, with import transactions totaling Tk. 50,588 crore (a 21.18% growth) and export transactions reaching Tk. 14,114 crore. Additionally, classified loans stood at Tk. 32,002 crore in 2024. Agrani Bank made significant strides in loan recovery, retrieving Tk. 1,726 crore, including Tk. 441 crore in cash.
In closing, Md. Anwarul Islam, Managing Director and CEO, reaffirmed the bank's commitment to delivering improved customer service, achieving higher business growth, and strengthening its institutional reputation for 2025 and beyond. He emphasized that the bank will continue to contribute actively to national development through efficient leadership and skilled human resources.
