ADB brings stakeholders together to boost participation in funded projects
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) convened a Business Opportunities Seminar (BOS) in Dhaka on 10 June 2026 to spotlight investment and procurement opportunities associated with ADB- and World Bank-funded projects.
More than 800 representatives from government agencies, development partners, the private sector, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and financial institutions attended to strengthen collaboration and boost engagement in development initiatives.
The seminar provided a forum to share details on forthcoming investment programmes, procurement opportunities, private-sector operations, and business prospects from ADB- and World Bank-funded initiatives in Bangladesh.
SM Moin Uddin Ahmed, CEO of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority, and Sangita Ahmed, Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the seminar.
Akira Matsunaga, Deputy Country Director and Officer-in-Charge of the ADB Bangladesh Resident Mission; Jean Pesme, Division Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan at the World Bank; and SM Jakaria Huq, Additional Secretary and ADB Wing Chief at the Economic Relations Division (ERD), gave opening remarks.
"Bangladesh's development ambitions demand not only financing, but robust partnerships and effective implementation," Matsunaga said.
"Forums such as today's seminar reinforce collaboration among government, development partners, and the private sector to deliver sustainable development outcomes," he said.
Pesme underscored the importance of collaboration among development partners, government institutions, and the private sector to advance Bangladesh's next phase of development.
Huq reaffirmed the Government of Bangladesh's commitment to transparency, fair competition, and effective execution of development-funded projects.
The BOS facilitated networking and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, helping participants navigate upcoming opportunities and engage effectively in development-funded projects.
