AAAB holds annual general meeting 2026 in Dhaka
The Advertising Agencies Association of Bangladesh (AAAB) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 15 April 2026 at the Banani Club Banquet Hall in Dhaka, with representatives from 42 member agencies in attendance.
AAAB President Sanaul Arefeen led the meeting, attended by executive committee members, agency leaders, and guests, including Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Ramendu Majumdar, Muneer Ahmed Khan, and Yusuf Hassan.
The AGM began with the president's welcome address, followed by approval of the previous meeting minutes.
General Secretary Syed Ahsanul Apon presented the annual report, highlighting key initiatives and achievements. He emphasised AAAB's ongoing engagement and capacity-building through workshops and knowledge-sharing.
He stressed ongoing policy advocacy and collaboration with the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Bank, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Key issues included digital advertising payment challenges, VAT and tax complexities, regulatory uncertainties, and the need for more industry formalisation.
He reaffirmed the association's commitment to working with government stakeholders to strengthen policies that support revenue generation and recognise advertising's role in Bangladesh's digital economy.
During open discussion and Q&A, agency representatives shared business challenges and suggested areas for increased association support.
Following this engaging discussion, Treasurer Sarah Ali presented the audited financial statements.
Members approved the November 2024 AGM minutes, annual report, treasurer's report and financial statements, auditor appointment and remuneration, and the 2026 budget proposal.
Joint Secretary M A Maruf welcomed new members and introduced sub-committee members, stressing the need for active engagement in advancing the advertising industry.
Throughout the event, other executive committee members, Dr Muhammad Risalat Siddique and Mehrun Nessa Islam, were also in attendance.
Vice-President Nazim Farhan Choudhury delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the meeting.
The AGM ended with dinner, music, and networking.
