8th RU Science Fiesta inaugurated at Rajshahi University

Walton Smart Fridge Presents 8th RUSC National Science Fiesta 2024 was officially inaugurated on 1 February 2025 by the Rajshahi University Science Club (RUSC).

Professor Emeritus A K M Azharul Islam attended as the chief guest, while Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Saleh Hasan Nakib inaugurated the event. Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Main Uddin and Professor Md Farid Uddin Khan joined as special guests alongside advisors and past and present RUSC members.

At 10:00 AM, the Vice-Chancellor launched the three-day festival by releasing balloons in front of the Shaheed Sukhranjan Samaddar Student-Teacher Cultural Center. The national flag of Bangladesh, the Rajshahi University flag, and the RUSC flag were hoisted simultaneously. The event, which began on 31 January, will continue until 2 February 2025. Various segments have already started, creating excitement among participants and visitors.

This year's Science Fiesta features 13 segments, including the Science Olympiad, scientific painting competition, scientific story writing competition, Rubik's Cube competition, case solving, chess competition, photography contest, mobile app idea competition, project show competition, poster presentation, AI-based business idea competition, wall magazine, and scientific debate. Attendees can also participate in various game segments and enjoy free snacks provided by Bombay Sweets.

In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Md Saleh Hasan Nakib praised RUSC for organizing the event, highlighting its role in inspiring young minds and promoting scientific inquiry. He emphasized that science festivals play a crucial role in engaging the younger generation and fostering a culture of innovation and research.

The event is supported by the National Science and Technology Museum and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Walton Smart Fridge is the title sponsor, while Uttarayan Amana City serves as the bronze sponsor. BDApps is the strategic partner, Bombay Sweets is the snacks partner, and Olin AI is the learning partner. The Surendranath & Bhajashundari Das Memorial Fund is a supporting partner. Media partners include The Business Standard, Jamuna Television, and Dainik Dinkal, while Biggan Chinta is the magazine partner. BDEvents is the event partner, JCI Dhaka West is the community partner, and Saifur's is the education partner. Kajla Canteen is the food partner, while TBS Graduates, UNET, Publician, and RU Insiders are the youth engagement partners.

The event was presided over by RUSC President Masud and hosted by General Secretary Sheikh Saikat.

The awards ceremony for competition winners will be held on 2 February 2025 at 4:00 PM, marking the grand closing of the three-day festival.
