More than 3 lakh loan defaulters in country: Finance minister
The finance minister said the revenue collection target for the 2020-21 fiscal year is Tk 330,000 crore

As of October 2020, there are 3,34,982 loan defaulters in the country's different banks and financial institutions, said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
The finance minister made the remark in response to a question from ruling party MP Asim Kumar Ukil in the National Parliament on Monday, reports Prothom Alo.
While responding to a question from ruling party MP Mamunur Rashid, the finance minister said Tk 1,455 crore has been allocated so far for the purchase of the coronavirus vaccine.
Replying to another question from Jatiya Party's Shamim Haider Patwary, the finance minister said the revenue collection target for the 2020-21 fiscal year is Tk 330,000 crore. Till last December, Tk 1,08,471 crore has been collected and 32.6 percent compared to the target has been achieved.
The finance minister responding to a question from AKM Rahmatullah, MP of the ruling party, said there were some allegations of money laundering from the country through undervaluation or overvaluation.
Relevant law enforcement agencies are investigating the matter. In cases where the allegations have been found to be true, legal action is being taken, he added.
Highlighting the various steps taken by the government to curb money laundering, the finance minister said, "As a result of these steps, money laundering will be reduced to a great extent."
