Meghna Bank MD Ahsan Khalil resigns

Kazi Ahsan Khalil, managing director (MD) of Meghna Bank, has resigned from his post.
He submitted his resignation letter today (27 July), with a copy sent to the Bangladesh Bank, officials familiar with the matter told The Business Standard.
Khalil had joined Meghna Bank in April last year on a three-year contract. Regarding his resignation, he said, "The newly formed board suddenly decided to send me on leave without providing any reason. I did not agree to that proposal and chose to resign instead. A Bangladesh Bank investigation would reveal much more."
In his 35-year career, Khalil has worked at several leading banks, including Prime Bank, First Security Islami Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Social Islami Bank, NRB Commercial Bank, Madhumati Bank, and Premier Bank.
Prior to joining Meghna Bank, he served as deputy managing director and chief business officer at NRB Bank.
In March this year, Bangladesh Bank dissolved Meghna Bank's board and appointed new shareholder and independent directors, including two former officials of the central bank.
