Islami Bank suspends S Alam’s housekeeper Marjina’s husband

Islami Bank has suspended Saddam Hossain, husband of S Alam Group owner Saiful Alam's housekeeper Marjina Akter, from the post of senior principal officer.
The bank's Senior Executive Vice President and CHRO Mohammad Sayeed Ullah issued the suspension order yesterday (24 September).
The order states, "As per the decision of the authorities, you are hereby suspended with immediate effect due to unauthorised absence while working at the Chattogram South Zonal Office, as reported in various national dailies on 20 September, and for acquiring wealth through fraudulent means."
During the period of suspension, subsistence allowance will be paid at the rate of half of the basic salary per month, along with all other admissible allowances in full, in accordance with the provisions of the bank's Human Resource Policy, said the order.
He will be attached to the bank's zonal office in Barishal and he will not be able to be involved in any other job or business during the suspension period.
Saddam Hossain has been serving as a senior principal officer at the Chawkbazar Branch of Islami Bank in Chattogram. He was directly appointed as SPO in Islami Bank on 13 May without any examination in continuation of hiring new staff members.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) recently discovered that Marjina Akhter has over Tk1 crore deposited in 22 Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs) at the Islami Bank Panchlaish branch.
Additionally, records indicate that Tk1.84 crore has been transacted over the past 12 years, since 2012, through another margin account at the First Security Islami Bank's Prabartak branch.
Marjina worked as a housekeeper for nearly a decade at the residence of the S Alam family, located in the Sugandha residential area of Chattogram city.
