IMF assures continued support for Bangladesh
Bangladesh remained under a $5.5 billion-worth loan programme of the IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reaffirmed support for Bangladesh as its resident representative, Maxym Kryshko, paid a courtesy call today (12 March) on the newly appointed Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman.
According to a spokesperson of the central bank, BB Deputy Governor Md Habibur Rahman was also present during the meeting.
Kryshko also noted that the IMF is looking forward to working with the country's new political government formed through the recently-held free and fair national elections.
Bangladesh remained under a $5.5 billion-worth loan programme of the IMF. Of which, the release of the sixth tranche remain pending as the multilateral donor refused to disburse the money until Bangladesh got an elected government.
