Dhaka Division tops in loan disbursement since more than 83% of the total loans have been disbursed in the division. On the other hand, Barisal division stands last in credit disbursement. In the meantime, women lag far behind men in getting loans from the entities.

As per the central bank data, the volume of fixed deposits, representing 97.63% of the deposits in the NBFIs in July-September, increased slightly over the time compared to the April-June quarter.

Almost 92.58% of the deposits in NBFIs are in Dhaka division while Barisal with only 0.18% deposits scored the lowest.

The central bank data show most of the depositors are men while there are more individual depositors than the institutional one.

Industries are the top borrowers to the NBFIs who got one-third of the total loans disbursed in July-September quarter. Compared to the previous quarter, credit disbursements to the industrial sector rose by more than 23% in the third quarter.

On the other hand, the July-September quarter saw a sharp rise in construction and consumer loan disbursements. During the period, loan disbursement to construction sector surged 599% compared to the second quarter to Tk355 crore, while consumer loan disbursement spiked by 163% to Tk835 crore.

Though the loan disbursement in the third quarter was less than the previous quarter, loan collections by the entities increased by more than 39%. The total collection during this period was Tk6,717 crore, up from Tk4,820 crore in April-June quarter.

According to the report, there are now 37 public and private NBFIs in the country who have 788 branches across Bangladesh.
