Brac Bank holds annual fire drill

Brac Bank Ltd recently organized an annual fire drill at its Head Office in the city in association with the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence in a bid to ensure workplace safety and security for the employees.

The fire drill was organized to create awareness among employees and practice in firefighting and safety procedures as the winter approaches with dry weather, said a press release.

Brigadier General Tushar Kanti Chakma (Retd), head of GSS and Procurement of the bank, said, "At Brac Bank, we follow a rigorous fire safety and emergency evacuation procedure. We conduct fire drills to be able to detect fire at an early stage."

"It also helps establishing a systematic and orderly evacuation plan, limiting the risk, mitigating the damage with the help of existing equipment preserved at the office premises, and ensuring the safety of our people," he said.

"Our branches also conduct fire drills twice a year - once with the local fire service and civil defense authority and the other by itself," he added.

The branch offices of the bank check the fire safety equipment and submit a report to the Department of Safety and Security by the first week of each month.

Employees from different departments of the bank's head office took part in the fire drill.
