BB again instructs banks to ensure hygiene rules are adhered to

As the number of Covid-19 cases is increasing across the country, the Bangladesh Bank has again issued instructions to banks to ensure hygiene rules are adhered to in their respective offices.
The Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD) of the central bank, on Tuesday, issued a circular in this regard.
In the circular, the central bank said the Cabinet Division recently expressed its concern over the rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.

In such a situation, all the officers and employees of the banks must wear masks and ensure compliance with hygiene rules to prevent infection.
Additionally, the head offices of the banks have been asked to monitor whether proper hygiene is being followed at the branch and regional level.
Earlier at the beginning of this year, banks were instructed to ensure no-mask-no-service.
Tuesday's circular further states that banks must also follow detailed guidelines regarding the hygiene rules which were issued on 22 March last year to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to that directive, banks need to form a central rapid-response team at head offices so that they can take necessary decisions in a timely manner.
The central bank gave a 16-point instruction to bankers, including working from home and not attending the office in person, strengthening online services and updating the list of Covid-19 infected employees.
