BB to release new Tk100 note on Tuesday
The new notes will initially be available at its headquarters in Dhaka and subsequently at all its branch offices

The Bangladesh Bank will issue a redesigned Tk100 banknote on 12 August, introducing enhanced security features to combat counterfeiting and extend the note's lifespan.
The new note will include 10 distinct anti-counterfeit measures. Among the most visible is a bold "100" printed in colour-shifting ink that changes appearance when tilted, said a press release issued by the Communications and Publications Department of the central bank today (10 August).
According to the release, a twisted security thread runs through four clear windows, revealing the denomination when held against light. Under ultraviolet (UV) light, the thread displays "100 Taka" and "Bangladesh Bank" in fine print.
For visually impaired users, three raised dots on the edge will help identify the note by touch. Other features include a see-through "100" that aligns perfectly when viewed against light, microprinted text, and ultra-fine fibres that glow under UV detectors. A glossy protective coating has also been added to make the note more durable, said the central bank.
Measuring 140 by 62 millimetres, the redesigned note matches the size of the current Tk100 bill but comes with sharper printing, richer colours, and high-detail reproductions of national symbols, the central bank's logo, and security clauses.
Both the old and new Tk100 notes will remain legal tender. Banks, businesses, and the public will be briefed on how to identify the updated features.
The central bank said the release is part of its ongoing currency modernisation programme, which has already upgraded the Tk1,000, Tk50, and Tk20 notes.
Officials hope the improved Tk100 design will strengthen public trust in cash transactions and make counterfeiting significantly more difficult.
The new note will first be issued from Bangladesh Bank's Motijheel branch before being distributed through other branches across the country.
