Emirates SkyCargo to launch weekly freighter service to Dhaka, expand capacity in India
The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity between Bangladesh and global markets via Dubai, providing exporters with reliable, scheduled cargo capacity.
Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of Emirates, has announced an expansion of its South Asia operations with increased capacity in Bangladesh and India to meet rising regional trade demand.
From April 2026, Emirates SkyCargo will introduce a dedicated weekly freighter service to Dhaka, responding to growing export volumes in Bangladesh, according to a press release.
The new service is expected to strengthen connectivity between Bangladesh and global markets via Dubai, providing exporters with reliable, scheduled cargo capacity.
As one of the world's leading garment-exporting nations, Bangladesh is set to benefit from the additional uplift capacity, faster transit times, and enhanced supply chain resilience enabled by the deployment of the freighter aircraft. The move is expected to further support the country's ready-made garment (RMG) sector and other key export industries.
In parallel, Emirates SkyCargo will expand its operations in India by adding two more weekly freighter services from March -- one to Mumbai and another to Ahmedabad. With this expansion, the airline's total cargo capacity in the region will rise to an average of 3,000 tonnes per week.
Currently, Emirates operates three weekly freighters to India—one to Mumbai and two to Ahmedabad—supplemented by bellyhold cargo capacity on 167 passenger flights per week serving nine Indian gateways.
Beyond air freight capacity, Emirates SkyCargo has developed an extensive trucking network to connect offline destinations across India. In 2025 alone, more than 1,000 SkyCargo trucks transported nearly 5,500 tonnes of cargo nationwide, reinforcing multimodal connectivity.
The airline's continued investment in dedicated freighter aircraft, road feeder services, and specialized solutions, including temperature-controlled logistics, underscores its strategy to support fast-growing markets such as Bangladesh and India.
At present, Emirates operates 21 weekly wide-body passenger flights with bellyhold cargo capacity to and from Dhaka, offering seamless connectivity to more than 140 global destinations through its Dubai hub.
