The Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to operate three more special flights from May 1 to bring back Bangladeshis stranded in India amid the shutdown over the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flights will be operated in three destinations of India from Dhaka. First flight will be on May 1 from Kolkata, on May 2 from Delhi and May 3 from Mumbai, according to Biman sources.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs took initiative to operate charter flights by Biman.

The price of each ticket will be Tk10,200 per person from Kolkata, Tk25,000 from Delhi and Tk31,000 from Mumbai.

Biman will carry 74 passengers from Kolkata, 162 passengers each from Delhi and Mumbai flight.

On April 24, Biman operated a special flight from Delhi carrying 162 passengers.

US-Bangla, the local private airline, operated total five special flights from April 20 to April 25 from Chennai to bring back Bangladeshis.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) today extended the flight suspension in both domestic and international routes till 7 May amid countrywide lockdown.
