Airport officials instructed to pay close attention during baggage screening for all VIP and VVIP passengers
In a move to further tighten checks, manual inspections will now be mandatory for high-risk baggage even after scanning through metal detectors and X-ray machines

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has introduced a series of additional security measures. According to the Airport Authority, extra attention will be given to the screening of all VIP and VVIP baggage.
All Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel are receiving regular briefings and updated instructions to maintain high awareness levels. The CCTV monitoring team has also been given special guidelines to improve surveillance, according to a HSIA authority's note disseminated to media last night (30 June).
In a move to further tighten checks, manual inspections will now be mandatory for high-risk baggage even after scanning through metal detectors and X-ray machines.
Moreover, anyone carrying firearms must have prior permission, and records of such permissions will be kept securely. In case of any security breach, an investigation committee will be formed through the relevant agency and preventive directives will be issued promptly.
The Airport Authority has urged all passengers and staff to cooperate with the enhanced measures to ensure maximum safety for everyone at the airport.
The measures come at a time when Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud was found carrying a gun magazine at the Airport which he later claimed was unintentional.
